To The Bar Training Privacy & Data Use Policy

How To The Bar Training handles account, workout, coaching, club, messaging, Apple Health and cloud-sync information.

Last updated: 30 August 2026

This policy explains how To The Bar Ltd (“To The Bar”, “we”, “us”) handles information in the To The Bar Training iOS app. The app helps athletes, coaches and clubs plan training, log results, communicate and manage club activity.

1. Information we process

Account and identity information

We process the name, email address and account identifier used to create and operate your account. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple provides a stable account identifier and may provide your name and either your email address or an Apple private relay address. You can link Apple sign-in to an existing To The Bar account.

Profile and preference information

This can include your profile photo, photo crop or focal point, biography, preferred units, notification preferences, exercise-library settings, body weight used for calorie estimates, saved gyms and available equipment.

Training information

We process sessions, exercises, sets, reps, loads, times, distances, results, successful and missed attempts, sets not logged, personal bests, session duration, notes, training history, drafts, blocks, favourites and custom exercises that you create or import.

Coaching and club information

If you use coaching or club features, we process connection requests, memberships, roles, permissions, licences, teams, training groups, assigned sessions, blocks, classes, bookings, waiting lists, attendance, shared results, leaderboard entries, messages, announcements and relevant administrative records. A club may also store its profile, logo, activities and joining PIN.

Technical and support information

We process the information needed to authenticate accounts, synchronise changes, send requested notifications, protect the service and investigate faults. If you contact support, we process the information you include in that request.

2. Apple Health and active calories

Apple Health integration is optional. Normal planning and logging features remain available if you do not grant Health access.

Reading tracker workouts

If you enable Use tracker workouts when available, To The Bar looks for a matching workout recorded by Apple Watch or another Health-compatible tracker during the session window. The app reads the matching workout and its aggregate active-energy total. It does not import ordinary background activity and does not retain or upload raw Health samples.

Creating an estimate

If a matching tracked workout is not available, you can choose to create a clearly labelled estimate using your body weight, confirmed session duration, session type and effort. An estimate is general fitness information, not a medical or clinically accurate measurement.

Saving an estimate to Apple Health

If you enable Save To The Bar estimates to Apple Health, the app can write the estimated workout and active-energy value to Apple Health. It does this only when no external tracked workout exists for that session, helping avoid duplicate workouts and calorie entries.

Health-derived calorie totals remain private. They are not shared with coaches, clubs, other users or leaderboards. To The Bar does not use Health information for advertising, marketing, profiling or data mining and does not sell Health information.

You can change or revoke Health permissions at any time in the Health app or iOS Settings. Revoking access stops future reads or writes. It does not automatically remove totals already saved in your private workout history or entries already written to Apple Health.

3. How we use information

We use information to:

  • create, authenticate and secure accounts;
  • provide workout planning, logging, progress and personal-best features;
  • provide offline use, backup and cloud synchronisation;
  • deliver coaching, club, class, booking, messaging and leaderboard features selected by users;
  • apply account roles, permissions and licences;
  • send notifications and respond to support requests;
  • prevent misuse, diagnose faults and improve reliability.

We do not sell personal information and do not use it for cross-app advertising tracking.

4. Sharing and visibility

Your private training history is not automatically public. Information becomes visible to another person when the feature requires it and you have the relevant relationship or sharing setting—for example, accepting a coach connection, joining a club, receiving an assigned session, booking a class, sending a message or choosing to share a completed result.

For completed sessions, you can choose to keep results private, share them with an authorised coach, or share them with an authorised coach and club. Shared scores may appear on the relevant club or class leaderboard. Apple Health calorie totals are excluded from this sharing.

Club owners and authorised staff can see information necessary for the roles and permissions assigned to them. This may include memberships, teams, bookings, attendance, shared results and administrative activity.

5. Local storage, Supabase and service providers

The app stores training information locally so that core logging can continue when a connection is unavailable. Local changes are synchronised when the app reconnects.

Supabase provides authentication, database and cloud infrastructure. Apple provides Sign in with Apple, Apple Health, notification and in-app purchase services. External video links, including YouTube links attached to exercises, open under the external provider’s own terms and privacy practices.

We require service providers to process information only for the services they provide and subject to applicable safeguards.

6. Notifications and messages

If you allow notifications, the app and Apple notification services use a device token and relevant event information to deliver alerts such as messages, invitations or timer reminders. You can change notification permission in iOS Settings and manage supported preferences in the app.

7. Imports and user-created content

If you import training records, create exercises, upload a profile or club image, write notes, send messages or publish programming, you are responsible for having the right to provide that content. Imported records are processed to create the training history and personal-best information requested by you.

8. Payments and licences

Where paid app services are offered, we may process product, subscription, licence and transaction-status information. Apple handles App Store payment-card details; To The Bar does not receive or store the full card details used for an Apple purchase.

9. Retention and deletion

We retain account and app information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide, secure and support the service. You can delete individual sessions and certain content inside the app. You can permanently delete the account from More > Account > Delete account.

Account deletion removes the login and associated personal app data, including personal training history, personal bests, gyms, preferences, connections and memberships, subject to limited records that must be retained for legal, fraud-prevention, dispute or security purposes. Content that forms part of another user’s or organisation’s legitimate records may be anonymised or retained where required instead of remaining linked to your account.

10. Security and account choices

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, including authenticated access and role-based permissions. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Use a strong password, protect your Apple account and device, and consider enabling authenticator-app multi-factor authentication and biometric unlock where available.

11. Your rights

Depending on applicable law, including UK data-protection law, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to processing of your personal information and to request a portable copy. Many corrections and deletion actions are available directly in the app. Contact us for other requests.

12. Children

The service is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children below the minimum age permitted for an account in their country without the involvement and authorisation required by applicable law.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the app or legal requirements change. The current version and revision date will remain available on this page.
